Ignite you self tapes – How to bring YOUR power to YOUR acting! POSTPONED!
Keith is an internationally active actor and acting workshop coach, renowned for successfully guiding actors through high-level casting processes, including for major productions such as Peaky Blinders. His coaching philosophy synthesizes the methodologies of seminal practitioners including Sanford Meisner, Ivana Chubbuck, Keith Johnstone, and David Mamet, and is grounded in his fundamental conviction that all acting is, at its essence, an act of improvisation. He pursued an in-depth study of the Chubbuck Technique over six years with Michael Monks and is a certified teacher of the Meisner Technique, having been trained by Larry Silverberg.
He brings a wealth of professional acting experience from both stage and screen to his pedagogical work. He is currently set to appear in Arnaud Desplechin’s forthcoming film Deux Pianos as well as in the AMC series Anne Rice’s The Talamasca. His recent credits include the Netflix series Les 7 vies de Léa, the feature film Reprise en Main, and an international theatre tour through Tunisia with a play by Yasmina Reza.
Keith teaches acting at the 3iS Film School in Lyon and leads courses in improvisation and public speaking at Lyon 3 University. He previously served for ten years as Head of Theatre at the Atre École de Théâtre. His keen eye for staging and direction was further refined through his work as an assistant to legendary directors such as Peter Stein, Yoshi Oida, and Declan Donnellan at the Opéra de Lyon. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Human Psychology, a French state-recognized acting diploma, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

THE WORKSHOP
This intensive 3–4 day workshop goes far beyond merely refining your self-tape technique. Its purpose is to enable you to step in front of the camera with your full, authentic self. By fusing the immediacy of the Meisner Technique with the emotional depth of the Chubbuck Technique, we offer a complete, practice-oriented methodology for creating self-tapes that resonate, endure, and stand out.
Why These Methods?
• The Meisner Technique trains you to live truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Through its core exercises, we dismantle self-focus and habitual self-monitoring, cultivating an immediate, moment-to-moment connection with your scene partner—even when that partner is not physically present. The emphasis lies on genuine reaction and impulse, ensuring that your performance remains raw, alive, and never “acted.”
• The Chubbuck Technique provides the profound emotional engine that sustains this truth. Its 12-step process reveals how to harness your own life—your struggles, achievements, and desires—to fuel your character’s objectives. This is where your singular power resides. By identifying what is personally at stake for you within a scene, you cease performing and begin fighting for something that truly matters.
What You Will Work On
Throughout the workshop, you will learn to apply both techniques directly to your self-tapes:
• Laying the Foundation: Mastering essential Meisner exercises to develop your capacity for truthful listening and spontaneous response.
• Unlocking Your Personal Power: Gaining access to your emotional inner life and channeling it purposefully into your character’s journey through the Chubbuck Technique.
• Analyzing and Applying: Breaking down scenes to uncover their central objective and subtext, then activating both techniques to bring them vividly to life.
• Mastering the Camera: Working on camera with live feedback, learning how to meet the technical demands of a self-tape in a way that feels organic, fluid, and effortless.
The aim is to provide a holistic and deeply personal experience. You will leave the workshop equipped with a clear artistic approach and a practical toolkit for creating self-tapes that are not only technically accomplished, but infused with your own unmistakable power and presence.
